What is NARR?
The National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops standards, supports state affiliate networks, and provides resources for recovery housing providers across the United States.
NARR certification demonstrates your commitment to quality, safety, and ethical operations. Many funders, referral sources, and state agencies now require or prefer NARR-certified residences.
Why Certification Matters

NARR Certification Levels
Level I - Peer Run
Democratically run, resident-managed housing with shared responsibility and minimal paid staff.
Level II - Monitored
House manager oversight with administrative structure. Drug testing and house meetings required.
Level III - Supervised
Certified staff, clinical services coordination, and individualized recovery planning.
Level IV - Service Provider
Licensed facility with clinical staff providing on-site treatment and services.
